We started with a simple observation: heavily pressured bass get used to seeing the exact same factory-molded soft plastics day in and day out. Standard baits often sit stiff in the water, losing their action the moment they stop moving. We set out to change that.
Our signature Urchin Series was designed around maximum fluid dynamics and subtle, constant motion. Built with custom-blended soft plastisol, vibrant mica pigments, and real garlic-infused attractant, our baits keep working even when you aren't twitching your rod tip.
THE SECRET IN THE SAUCE: 5-YEAR FERMENTED GARLIC
Most lure companies spray a quick synthetic scent onto their baits right before bagging them—a coating that washes off after three casts. We take a very different approach.
At Blackwood’s Better Bass Baits, our signature scent profiles are built around an in-house, 5-year fermented garlic reduction.
By slow-aging real garlic cloves in a controlled oil infusion over five full years, the natural enzymes break down into dense, highly concentrated amino acid compounds.
When infused directly into our soft plastisol and lure washes, this deep, pungent attractant does two critical things on the water:
Masks Unnatural Odors: Completely neutralizes petrol, plastic, and human handling scents that cause pressured bass to veer off at the last second.
Forces Extended Holds: Triggers an instinctual feeding response, causing bass to crunch down and hold the bait significantly longer—giving you those extra seconds to set the hook firmly.
